Starstruck #1 (of 13)

Starstruck #1 (of 13)
CBR | Aug 29, 2009 | 36 Pages | 22.9 MB
irst serialized in Heavy Metal Magazine, then a Marvel graphic novel and comic series... and now finally back in print after nearly 20 years, Michael Kaluta's amazing Starstruck-completely remastered and with incredible new color by Lee Moyer-is back and looking better than ever! Each issue also contains an episode of Galactic Girl Guides, by the same creative team. Writer: Elaine Lee; Artists: Michael Kaluta with Charles Vess (inks on backup) & Lee Moyer (colors).

Writer Elaine Lee is an actress and playwright, and she has definitely written Starstruck (in all its incarnations) from a feminine sensibility. This, coupled with Michael Kaluta's Art Nouveau influence work together well in presenting the "other worldly" milieu of this far-future setting. Considering that this was originally created 25 years ago, the high quality of the writing, subtle, with a pace all of its own, and the intricate, Heavy Metal feel of the art--now made even more lush with Moyer's colors--blend together to form as esoteric a science fiction story as the comics medium can ever have. Highly recommended first issue.
